When the Harry Potter Fantasy comes alive!

Ever fancied sitting on the long Hogwarts table and enjoying some chicken roast? Or wondered what a cauldron cake tastes like? Every Harry Potter fan has always secretly wished to live the Hogwarts life and explore the nuances of the magical world. From holding wands and chanting spells to sipping on butter beer sitting in Three Broomsticks to holding a Nimbus 2000, given a chance we would like to do it all. Studying at St. Xavier’s, Mumbai, I came close to experiencing the Hogwarts life with them winding staircases and the arches. But food wise, the Warner Bros and Courtyard by Marriott organized Harry Potter Brunch did a great job in giving a sneak peek into Harry’s enchanting world.

A tall banner depicting platform 9 ¾ welcomed us as we walked in. We were quite excited to embark upon our Hogwarts journey. Alongside there was a little photo booth to set the tone for the brunch. It had an array of props like the Harry glasses, the flying car, wands, robes, the sorting hat and brooms to set you off on a photo clicking spree.

The banners depicting all the four houses descended from the top as we entered the buffet area. It lacked the charm of the grand hall of course, but I guess that would be asking for too much.

I loved all the thought that went into planning the dishes and the attention to detail. Like there was a Deathly Hallows pizza with slices served in the form of the Deathly Hallows sign. Roast Chicken from the welcoming feast in the first book. Then there was Pea Soup which is served at the Leaky Cauldron. There was Three Bean Stew which was served at the Yule Ball. Spaghetti Bolognese with pears was also on offer because when Harry and Hermione were tracking down the Horcruxes and hiding from the Death Eaters, Hermione had borrowed Harry’s Invisibility cloak to sneak into a Muggle supermarket and take spaghetti Bolognese and tinned pears. It was great how all these details were incorporated into the dishes.

We started off the meal with some lip-smacking Butterbeer. I have always found the concept of Butterbeer very fascinating and was thrilled to see this fictitious wizarding drink come to reality.

All in all, as an ardent Potter fan, I felt this was a commendable effort in acquainting us Muggles with the wizarding world. It really brought back fond memories of all the books.
