“Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better”- Albert Einstein
A small town on the outskirts of Bangalore, popularly known for its wildlife is Kabini. The verdant forests and the serene backwaters not only take your breath away but transport you to a different world altogether. Somewhere as I got lost in the wilderness of Kabini, I found myself. Free from all the woes and rants of my mundane routine, it was just me basking in the tranquil beauty of Kabini. I am normally not the kind to be drawn by solitude but there was something about this place; it had this mysterious and calm aura which was almost liberating.
As I sat on the patio overlooking the backwaters, numerous thoughts started flashing through my mind- the perfectionist travel planner in me already chalking out the following day’s itinerary. I urged myself to just let go and enjoy the present moment- the cool breeze on my face, the trees swaying and birds chirping. So often we spend time and energy obsessing to make the future perfect, not realizing that we’re missing out on the present. You need that reminder every now and then; I guess that’s what vacations are for!
One of the few parks in India that offer a boat safari (sought after by the bird enthusiasts), but you should take it for the experience. The stillness and silence around you can get a bit unnerving. But as you meander through the river, the lush greenery enveloping you and different varieties of birds fluttering by, make for a soothing experience. There were people around me who were getting extremely impatient and restless. And, I wondered why. It felt so great being close to nature away from the city chaos and our fast-paced lifestyles. For a change, it felt good to take things slow.
How I wish I had a DSLR on this trip to capture these pictures better!
So how about for once taking a trip where you’re not running around feverishly from one tourist spot to another? And, just giving yourself that ‘me’ time in the proximity of nature to introspect and return energized!
Which was your last vacation when you had some ‘me’ time?
